What a day it was today in Rotorua at the new Wattle’s Dual Slalom track! 11 Pro women came to take part in the inaugural Crankworx Rotorua Dual Slalom event. Each racer had two qualifying runs (one on either side of the dual track). Their times were then added up and the 8 quickest times booked a place in the elimination rounds.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Dual Slalom, the track is split half long ways and racers go down in pairs – side by side. To ensure that everyone gets a fair crack, the pairs of racers go down twice – once on each side of the track. The seeding runs are done before the competition starts properly and riders are seeded according to their 2 timing runs.
Last years Queen of Crankworx – Jill Kintner was there to add to the great results she has already gathered this year’s Rotorua Crankworx. There was a mix of regulars on the Women’s Crankworx scene and local pros. For the list of athletes who took part check out the Crankworx Website.
The level of skill was fantastic! While we all know that the mark of a great athlete is that they make everything look easy, when you get up close and personal the only thing that is easy – is to see how fast they are going!!
Even at the speeds they were going there is always time for whips and manuals.
When it was all said and done the 2017 Queen of Crankworx Jill Kintner was on top yet again! Followed by Kialani Hines of the USA and Tahnee Seagrave of GBR. A big congratulations from CWRB to ALL of our Lady Pro’s – We SALUTE YOU!!
Looking forward to catching all of the athletes at the rest of the events! We will keep you informed 🙂
